Mako and documents

The admin Documents page ("Files and shared documents in one workspace.") is where you manage the knowledge that powers Mako and the shared files your team uses. Three tabs split it: Documents, Profile, and Notes.

Documents

The Documents tab is the file workspace: the library of company documents Mako reads from and your team shares. Upload files, organize them into folders, and control who can reach what. This is the corpus Mako answers from, so the quality of your assistant's answers tracks the quality of what you put here.

Permissions on knowledge

Access is fine-grained: the tab needs the Mako › Company Knowledge permission ("Grant the 'Mako > Company Knowledge' permission to manage documents and folders."). Members can be granted access to specific folders, and share links can open a folder to people outside the workspace when you choose to share.

Profile

The Profile tab ("Configure the profile, tone, guardrails, and behavior settings for Mako.") shapes how the assistant behaves for your organization: its personality, how it talks, and the rules it follows when answering. It needs the Mako › Mako Profile permission.

Notes

The Notes tab ("View and manage stored notes, pinned facts, and context snapshots for Mako.") holds the things you want Mako to remember: pinned facts, saved context, and notes that shape its answers. It needs the Mako › Notes permission.

How the pieces connect

• Documents give Mako its raw material: the files it reads to answer.
• Profile decides how it speaks and what it will and will not do.
• Notes give it memory: facts and context that persist between questions.

Members then ask Mako questions on their own Mako surface and get answers grounded in what you put here. The fuller and more current the library, the better the answers.
